A new British study found that chronic fatigue syndrome is caused by an excessive immune response to an illness or emotional stress.

Chronic fatigue syndrome, or cerebrospinal encephalopathy, is a serious neurological disease, in which fatigue does not go away even after rest, but the biology of the disease remains mysterious, according to ScienceDirect.

Researchers at King & # 39; s College London have discovered that some patients who have been given medications to strengthen their immune system to fight hepatitis C would present symptoms similar to those of chronic fatigue.

Eighty-five of 55 patients with fatigue syndrome were injured, suggesting that their strengthened immune system has triggered long-term changes in the body.

"For the first time, people prone to a condition like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have a hyperactive immune system before and during a challenge to the immune system," said Alice Russell, of the London Institute of Psychiatry and Neuroscience of the King & # 39; s College.

"Our findings suggest that people with an excessive immune response are more likely to have chronic fatigue syndrome," she said.

It is estimated that there are 17 million people infected with the disease worldwide and about 25,000 infected people in Britain. In addition, he often becomes bedridden and unable to start basic daily activities such as washing and feeding.
