A new study by scientists at Kings College London revealed a new treatment that could change the rules for thousands of men with prostate cancer.
According to NewsMax, the new treatment contains an industrial protein called interleukin or IL-15, which is injected into the tumor, increasing the number of immune cells that fight cancer, kill malignant cells and reduce tumors.
In clinical trials, scientists not only seek to reduce the number of tumors, but also to provide permanent protection against disease so that they do not return.
Human cells naturally contain the IL-15 protein, while protein reinforcement helps improve levels, helping the immune system fight cancer cells.
Early laboratory experiments showed that IL-15 was able to reduce tumor size by more than half, said Christine Galustian, principal investigator at King's College.
"The new treatment has the potential to change the rules of the game, thus facilitating the treatment of men with prostate cancer," said Gallustian.
The researchers hope the new technology will help prevent the spread of cancer to other organs and prevent medical complications.
