Former Senegalese player El Hadj Diouf believes that Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is better than Antoine Grizman of Atletico Madrid at Golden Ball.
"Being African is an obstacle," Diouf said in an interview with Tes de Dakar. "Sadio Mani deserves the top ten".
"Salah deserves to be in the top five."
Salah was ranked sixth in the trophy standings crowned by Real Madrid star Luca Modric and captain of Croatia.
The star of Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo, took second place behind Grizman, then the Paris Saint-Germain and Lionel Messi of Stacey.
Mani is 22nd with PSG defender Eddison Cavani and Real Madrid defender Marcelo.
