CAF 2021 will be held in Cameroon after the withdrawal of the next edition of this West African country's tournament, the African Football Confederation (CAF) said in a statement posted on its website on Friday. .
"In the past two weeks, there has been a massive campaign to mislead and defame Executive Committee decisions at its November 30 meeting, in violation of the rules and laws," said K's statement. .
"K does not intend to enter into these sterile and controversial discussions that do not reflect the truth."
"In this regard, the President of the Republic (Ahmed Ahmed) refutes in his statement the truth about what has been published on the state of the Africa Cup of Nations 2021. K said that Cameroon had officially agreed to host the Africa Cup 2021 with an official letter sent to Kav and signed by Paul Biya, head of state.
"It is therefore enough to reject various unfounded interpretations."
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations was withdrawn from Cameroon after its inspection committee found that the country was not ready to host the football event year-round next for the first time with the participation of 24 teams.
According to reports, Morocco was the country closest to the organization of the event, but Arab officials denied it and the competition for the tournament was limited to Egypt and in South Africa, who have officially requested to host the Africa Cup.
KAF had previously been tasked with organizing the 2021 African Cup of Nations before moving to Cameroon.
K will be announced Jan. 9 as the tournament organizer, which starts in June.
