On the surface of Mars, the American Insight probe launched the French seismological system to start listening to the vibrations of the interior of the planet and monitor the internal ripples, thus contributing to deepening the understanding of the history of its formation.
"Downloading the device from the sensor to the surface is just as important as putting the probe on the planet," said Bruce Bannard, NASA's chief scientist.

"This device is the most important task of Insight – we must achieve three quarters of our scientific goals." The probe used its electronic arm to carry the device and remove it on Martian soil, at a distance of 1 meter and 64 centimeters. The device is able to detect the lowest vibrations in the ground, especially shock waves caused by the impact of comets, as well as earthquakes inside the planet.
"It's like placing the phone as close to your ear as possible and listening to all the details," said French physicist Philippe Luneonet, the designer.
On the other hand, Mars Express, of the European Space Agency, was able to take a photo of a volcanic crater spotted on the surface of Mars covered with ice, called "Koroliev".
According to the agency, the spear would have been named after the Russian missile scientist Sergei Koroliev, located in the northern lowlands of Mars, vast area of dunes surrounding the planet's polar cover, of an area 82 km.
