Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have developed a 1-cm-long device that can be installed in the stomach to indicate to the brain that it is full, with simple electrical currents.

The device activates when the stomach begins to move foods naturally during digestion, resulting in the generation of electrical impulses that are connected to the vagus nerve, also called the nerve, which connects the digestive tract to the brain, in order to understand that the stomach is full after several doses of food, "Russia today".

Tests in mice showed that the device reduced its food intake by a third, making it lose 38% of its weight in just 15 days.

Unlike the abdominal belt, the device can be removed easily, so that the mice directly rediscover their eating habits and published the results in the scientific journal "Nature Communications".

Scientists have said that legumes are linked to the movement of the stomach, strengthening the natural response to control the amount of food consumed.

The device has detected the movement of ripples in the rat's stomach, through an electrical device, to measure vagus nerve stimulation by electrodes. The new device showed a clear advance in terms of safety and remained in a constant position throughout the study period.
