The most prominent drugs are fluoroquinolone antibiotics, fluoxacin, ciprofloxacin (cipro), norfloxacin, afloxacin, dalafloxacin, Jimmy floxacin and levofloxacin (also called levocine).
The use of these antibiotics reduces the thickness of the inner layer of the aorta and causes the explosion and blood leakage.
She noted that the likelihood of a negative impact of these antibiotics in the case of smoking because smoking already increases the rates of swelling of the aorta.
The US Food and Drug Administration has advised patients taking fluoroquinolone antibiotics not to stop taking them directly and to talk to their doctor first to suggest an appropriate alternative to their condition.
