A team of scientists has identified the vulnerability of cells infected with HIV, which paves the way for eradication.
Researchers at the Institut Pasteur in Paris said they managed to destroy the virus-infected cells, which are usually treated with antiretrovirals, reported the Daily Mail.
AIDS patients take these antibiotics all their lives because they fail to eliminate concentrated virus stocks in immune cells.
"Currently used antiretroviral therapy is designed to prevent AIDS infection, but it is not able to eradicate the virus in the body," said a spokesman for the agency. ;institute.

AIDS targeting cells with high metabolic activity, the researchers were able to destroy the cells infected by the virus or its reservoirs thanks to inhibitors of this activity.
In a next phase, researchers will conduct more experiments on HIV-infected people to learn more about the mechanism of cell destruction in which the virus hides and draws energy.
