Venice celebrates birthdays in its own way

Every year, a few days before Christmas, the Italian city of Venice celebrates a traditional boat race with professionals and rafters, provided you dress up Santa Claus. Dozens of people usually participate in the annual boat race on the Grand Canal in Venice, and the University of Caosc Foscari organizes it in traditional boats known as Mascaretta, always used by fishermen. The participants in the floating waters of the city and its suspension bridges race in an atmosphere of joy. They encourage spectators, friends and family. Those interested can participate in another race run in the famous streets of the city.

The boat race was launched for the first time in 2009 on the proposal of Cavoscari University.
