FDA warns of antibiotics "fluoroquinolones"

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned against the use of fluoroquinolone-type antibiotics, stressing that this should be avoided for its role in increasing the risk of rupture cardiovascular.

"This type of antibiotic disrupts the aorta, resulting in a risk of death," said the agency in a statement. "The risk of these ruptures increases with the use of fluoroquinolone antibiotics obtained by injection or drug agency, highlighting the need to not use these antibiotics in patients at increased risk of heart disease, unless that other treatment options are available.

"When used properly, antibiotics save lives and with this new Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warning about increased risk of aortic aortic rupture," said Dr. Sattjit Boshri, cardiologist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Caution is needed for those at risk, the need for cardiologist examination, ultrasound examination of the heart and the aorta.

"Patients should immediately see a doctor while going to emergency if they experience sudden, severe and persistent pain in the stomach, chest or back," said US Food and Drug Administration.
Research suggests that fluoroquinolones are the basis of antibiotics, particularly upper respiratory infections, and include antibiotics: cyproflucosin and levofloxacin.
