Al-Sheikh resigns as chairman of the Saudi Olympic Committee
Tariq Al-Sheikh, the top Saudi sports official, resigned on Thursday.
The Saudi Olympic Committee said on its Twitter account that the extraordinary general assembly of the committee would be invited to elect a new chairman of the board.
Al-Sheikh was elected President of the Saudi Olympic Committee by acclamation on October 13, 2017. The most significant changes in the structure of Olympic work resulted in the creation of 561 different medals at all games in 2018 in a historic precedent. He has also created several new sports federations such as Electronic Security, Software, Diving, Ability, Endurance, Archery, Volleyball, Mental Sports and Chess.
