HIV / AIDS, it could soon be the discovery of a cure for him, according to the Institut Pasteur de France.

Researchers at the Institut Pasteur have been able to better understand how HIV / AIDS works and are now looking for ways to heal completely, and research is progressing.

Although accurate statistics on the number of AIDS patients in Arab countries are missing, for example, in France alone, about 150,000 people live with AIDS daily. Of these, between 30,000 and 40,000 people are unaware.
Current AIDS treatments must be taken for life. In fact, antiretrovirals (in other words, the treatment that prevents the virus from progressing) do not allow the complete elimination of AIDS: these viruses still remain in the "buffer" of the immune system T4 CD cells.

But HIV does not infect all T4 CD cells and, to this day, researchers do not know why this happens.

The good news is that researchers at the Pasteur Institute have been able to determine the characteristics of CD4 T cells, which would be preferred for infection by the virus. In other words, scientists have discovered that HIV would be a priority in metabolically active cells, thus producing more energy.

Ability to eliminate the virus
"To reproduce the virus, it converts the energy and products that enter the cell," explain the researchers. "The need for this virus to convert energy and take products that come back to the cell is a weakness that can be exploited to attack infected cells."

More precisely, thanks to this great discovery, scientists were able to destroy some infected cells by preventing their metabolic activity. "This research is an important step in thinking about the possibility of eliminating the virus by eliminating the buffer cells and the next step of the research is to evaluate the potential for prevention of metabolic activity," conclude the scientists who published their research on cell metabolism. In vivo ".

In the hope of finding a definitive cure for HIV / AIDS, prevention remains the key to preventing the transmission of the virus from one infected person to another.
