In the Nalut and Kabao areas of western Libya, voluntary campaigns to control the insect responsible for the spread of leishmaniasis, which attacks several parts of the country, have been warned in the coming months. months by the National Center for Disease Control.

Leishmaniasis is one of the first parasites of parasitic leishmaniasis with more than 20 species and is transmitted to humans through female bites of infected sandflies. According to the World Health Organization, the number of species of sandflies known to transmit leishmaniasis parasites exceeds 90 species.

"Parents have raised in-kind donations and money to support cleaning and public works, to conduct a fly-spray campaign to spread leishmaniasis," said Salem Azzouza, a Nalut volunteer. .

"The voluntary campaign did not stop in Nalut, the neighboring population of Kabao and other small villages of Usaaf and Ekrain witness similar campaigns," Azzouza said. "The voluntary campaign came after a serious failure of the state to resist the disease, become a threat.Real for the people."

Although the medical supply system of the Ministry of Health confirmed that the government had received the first shipment of leishmaniasis treatment and started distributing it to the affected areas, Badr al-Najjar, director of the National Center for Disease Control of Ministry of Health, warned of the danger of the spread of the disease. "That" the responsible authorities do not have any real potential to deal with the disease ", pointing out that the center is not yet available to have accurate statistics on the number of cases in the areas of propagation in Sirte and Taurgha and Zliten and in the Western Mountain areas, including Nalut and Kabao.

Najjar explained that the current environment created by cold spells is an incubator that facilitates the spread of the disease more widely, and that it will likely increase over the next two months, adding, "The number of contacts with hospitals is increasing and current efforts to address them are not enough. "

Al-Najjar revealed that the sections of centers that specialize in disease resistance have been suspended for some time and that it was impossible to help reduce the spread of the disease, pointing out that the only solution held by these centers was to launch awareness campaigns among citizens to avoid injuries and primary treatment.

Al-Najjar explained that the quantities of drugs having reached the country of the disease are not fundamental for its resistance, saying that essential drug lists have not yet been imported, but that the agency of Medical supplies announced on Saturday that they had received the first shipment and started distributing it to the regions.

The announcement of the medical supply system coincided with the announcement of the Government's Foreign Ministry of the Agreement regarding the address of all Libyan embassies abroad and friendly countries providing medicines.

According to the World Health Organization, there are three main forms of leishmaniasis: visceral leishmaniasis (also called kalazar, the most serious form of disease) and skin (the most common) and mucosal skin.

Leishmaniasis is the main cause of leishmaniasis parasites transmitted by female bites of infected sandflies. The disease affects some of the world's poorest people and is linked to malnutrition, displacement, poor housing, a weakened immune system and a lack of financial resources.
