The Iranian team suffered a big loss to their Yemeni counterpart by five goals in the match they had won Thursday in the first round of the group stage of the Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Iranian Mehdi Tarmi put his country in the lead with a quick goal that kept him in the 12th minute, keeping him in the penalty box.
Iran's second goal was scored in the 23rd minute by a "friendly shot". The ball hit the right post of a free kick then the keeper of the right hand before tightening his net.
Mehdi Tarmi came home in the 23rd minute and scored his second and third personal goal with a header.
Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun strengthened his team's lead by scoring his fourth goal in the 54th minute following a penalty kick in the box.
Midfielder Saman Godos scored the fifth goal with a shot from the edge of the box in the left corner in the 78th minute of the match at Al Jazeera's Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
Iran won the match with the three points and the fourth group, pending the outcome of the match between Iraq and Vietnam on Tuesday.
