A group of French scientists has announced a major breakthrough in the fight against HIV / AIDS: according to the EU24, researchers from the Institut Pasteur in Paris have managed to destroy virus-infected cells, usually treated antiretrovirals.
Traditional medicines are unable to eliminate the body virus, but new research published in the journal Metabolism suggest that scientists have found a way to eliminate stored virus cells.
"Antiretroviral treatment is designed to block HIV infection, but it can not eradicate it in lymphocytes," said the institute spokesman.
AIDS targets cells with high metabolic activity and absorbs their energy to multiply. According to the British Daily Mail, researchers have been able to destroy these cells thanks to inhibitors of metabolic activity.
