The Daily Mail newspaper featured an American woman who died of rabies after being bitten by a puppy while she was in the yoga station.
The bite started on her hands, causing her pain and burns, and six weeks later she went to a Virginia hospital in the United States where she thought she had been poisoned.
After leaving the hospital, she felt breathless and felt "strangled". The doctors thought that she had a panic attack and that she was sent home with medication, but that her condition worsened rapidly. According to the newspaper.
Tests confirmed that she had a rabies strain found in dogs in India and that paramedics had given her ketamine to reduce the risk of spreading the virus to nurses.
The doctors tried to cure her, but the woman died, one of nine people who died of rabies in the United States since 2008.
Officials of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) last week asked travelers to get vaccinated against rabies before traveling to countries where the disease spreads.
