Researchers at the British University of Surrey have developed a new technique for early detection of various artificial intelligence-based cancer symptoms.
The new artificial intelligence system can predict the symptoms and severity of cancer patients during a patient's treatment trip, thus allowing doctors to start treating these symptoms early, the researchers said.
Researchers have developed two artificial intelligence systems that can accurately predict three common symptoms in cancer patients: "depression, stress, and sleep disorders." These three symptoms are linked to a sudden deterioration in the quality of life of cancer patients.
The researchers analyzed the data already available on the symptoms experienced by cancer patients in the radiotherapy phase.
The researchers used data covering different time periods to check whether the algorithms on which the artificial intelligence system is based can actually predict when these symptoms will start or if these symptoms will emerge from the baseline, according to the agencies.
The results of the artificial intelligence system proved to be very close to the real symptoms of the patients.
"These exciting results show that artificial intelligence techniques can really make a difference for people with cancer," said researcher Bayan Barnaghi, an expert in artificial intelligence at the university. It also helps physicians identify the patients most likely to develop symptoms, helping them to develop proactive treatment plans to treat and overcome these symptoms.
