Dietary fiber prevents noncommunicable diseases

LONDON (Reuters) – According to a recent British study, people who consume more fiber and whole grains are less likely to develop noncommunicable diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
The study was conducted by researchers from Imperial College London and published in the latest edition of The Lancet.
Most people in the world consume less than 20 grams of dietary fiber a day, including whole grains, legumes, vegetables and fruits, the researchers said.
