A simple test predicts a heart attack ten years ago!

A simple and "cheap" blood test can predict with great precision the risk that an adult suffers from a heart attack ten years ago.

A & E doctors in Britain use the troponin tests to determine if the patient has had a heart attack. But the National Institute of Health and Health Care (Nice) approved it as a predictive test.

100% tests proven in scientific trials have been included in the "Nice" program, which means that it can become effective in national health centers.

The current 10-year cardiac prediction is based on a tool called "QRISK", which raises many risk factors, including lifestyle, age, and weight.

In an interview with the Times, Professor Nick Mills, a researcher at the University of Edinburgh, who led the experiments, praised the effectiveness of the blood test, saying that "the technology for measuring the troponin in the blood is very good because it tells us about the health of the heart in general ".

Sir Nils Samani, medical director of the British Heart Foundation, said he hoped doctors would be able to use this simple test to identify patients at higher risk of heart attack.
