Medical research has shown that fasting greatly helps prevent or treat cancer in an infected person.
According to the website "Medical News Today", fasting fights cancer by reducing insulin resistance and inflammation levels in the body.
The source added that fasting helps combat complications caused by chronic diseases affecting the body such as obesity and type 2 diabetes, two leading causes of cancer.
A healthy fast requires not to eat calories for a specified period of time up to a few hours or only a very small number of them.
Fasting makes cancer cells more reactive during chemotherapy, protects healthy cells from the body and strengthens the immune system, say the scientists.
In 2014, the National Library of Medicine conducted an experiment to determine whether fasting promotes resistance to cancer-tested mice and researchers monitored changes in animal stem cells.
The researchers found that fasting for two to four days helped the rat stem cells resist the complications of chemotherapy for cancer.
In addition, the mice that were fasted could better renew their stem cells, which means that the benefit of fasting is not limited to preventing the deadly disease.
