The researchers exposed a group of mice at high temperatures and cutaneous strains, showing that brain cells, called amygdala, are primarily responsible for pain.
The researchers then developed a drug that could silence these cells, which they had not yet detected, and performed the same experiment on mice.
The result was that the rodent brain stopped analyzing feelings of pain, despite their ability to determine its source.
Scientists will follow experiments on humans and the results will likely be similar because of the similarity of the brain cycle of pain in humans and mice.
This is known to specialists in chronic pain that occurs every day or almost every day for at least 6 months.
