NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – A daily anti-baldness drug from US President Donald Trump could help thousands of men around the world protect them from a serious illness, according to a new study.
The study, which lasted for about 25 years, indicates that the drug "Finasteride", which treats hair loss, also helps fight prostate cancer.
Researchers at the University of Texas, Texas, said that about 20,000 cases had been followed, pointing out that finasteride was safe, inexpensive, and effective at preventing disease.
The drug works by slowing the breakdown of testosterone, the main chemical responsible for the development of male pattern baldness, and by reducing PSA protein, which is why prostate cancer can be prevented, they said.
