DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The United Arab Emirates team reached the semi-finals of the 2019 Asian Cup, beating Australia 1-0, before hitting Qatar in semi final.
On the ground of the Hazza Bin Zayed stadium in Al Ain (United Arab Emirates), the first half ended on a negative result, the UAE succeeding to resist the Australian attacks and risking more than one occasion for the opposing goal.
In the second half, the draw went on until the 68th minute, when Ali Mabkhout scored the only goal after the defeat of the Australian defense to go to the semifinals.
With this victory, the United Arab Emirates team played a match against Qatar in the semi-finals to complete the qualifying contract for the semi-finals, Iran playing against Japan in the other match.
The UAE has returned from Australia after being eliminated from the semifinals of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, hosted by Australia.
