Roskosmos, in cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences, has started developing a protection program against space threats.
The Russian space company Roskosmos said on Facebook that these threats include asteroids, comets and space stones. The end dates of the study and the setting up of the program have not been announced.
Roskosmos added that space debris near orbit could cause the most significant damage to the Earth, accumulated over the past decades "in huge quantities" rather than celestial bodies.
Up to now, according to various sources, there would be up to 20,000 space debris in orbit.
