Mohamed Bou Treika, a former Egyptian football player, expects the Mauritanian team to encourage Egyptian fans at the Africa Cup of Nations next summer.
The Arab team has qualified for the first time in its history in the 2019 version, which takes place in Egypt.
"I am honored to be here in a golden year for Mauritanian football," said Abu Treika, who has been honored in Mauritania.
"I have confidence in the support of Egyptian fans to the Mauritanian team at the African Nations Championship."
"I hope that the efforts of the Mauritanian Football Federation will be translated into the Africa Championship in Egypt," he said. "This is not the hero of this version, which is well known in advance … the Egyptian team, God willing."
Egypt has won the title seven times as a record, compared to the 5 closest Cameroonians.
The tournament takes place in summer with the participation of 24 teams for the first time.
