Real Madrid beat Espanyol 4-2 in the first round of the Spanish league on Sunday.
French striker Karim Benzema was allowed to quickly enter Real Madrid four minutes into the match, following a rebound by Espanyol goalkeeper Luka Modric.
The goal of Benzema is the fastest goal of the season, all competitions, after 187 seconds.
Sergio Ramos managed to add the second goal to Real Madrid thanks to a superb header in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper of Espanyol failed to attack, the 50th goal of the head with the Royal, in all competitions.
Leo Baitistaau reduced the score to Espanyol by scoring the first goal of the Catalan team on 25 minutes with a powerful shot blocked by goalkeeper Murtaji Cortua.
Benzema scored his second and third goal of Real Madrid in the 46th minute with a powerful shot to become the club's sixth-leading scorer with 207 goals, finishing the first period with a 3-1 lead.
Welsh star Gareth Bell boosted Real Madrid's lead in the 67th minute after a superb move to the left of goalkeeper Espanyol, the Welsh's 100th goal with the Royal since arriving at Tottenham in 2013.
French defender Rafael Faran was sent off the Spaniards in the 72nd minute after blocking the Catalan striker, alone in front of goalkeeper Cortois.
Roberto Rosales scored Espanyol's second goal in the 81st minute with a powerful shot, but the referee dismissed the goal on the assistant referee's banner, before the video technique did rule the goal for the Catalans.
With this victory, Real Madrid increased its lead to 39th place in the final standings, behind Barcelona with 49 points and Atletico Madrid with 44 points, while Espanyol lost 24 points in 15th place.
