The rocky planet "2-2" located outside our solar system is struggling to maintain itself. It has been cut for some time before the astronomers first discovered it in 2015.
Since then, scientists have regularly followed the disintegration of the planet, like that of Neptune, to learn more about the fragmentation of certain planets during their rotation. Scientists have published a recent study in the American Astronomical Journal in which they pointed to the latest evolution of the planet's rotation around the star. This one has collapsed, even if the year on the surface is actually nine hours.
Our knowledge of this phenomenon has been limited because of its rarity. Scientists have only been observing it for years, but the new K2-22 planet produces a dust-like dust effect and a comet-like tail. The planet, located about 800 light-years from the planet, is one of three planets that disintegrated by about 3,800. Scientists have confirmed that they are outside our solar system.
As the disintegration of planets is a rare phenomenon, astronomers hope to collect as much information as possible about this phenomenon and its causes before the planet inevitably ends. We do not know when we will have another chance to see a planet collapse.
