Abu Dhabi: Qatar have qualified for the Asian Cup final for the first time in their history after their 4-0 win against UAE hosts on Tuesday.

Qatar defeated Japan in Friday's final at Zayed Sports City Stadium.

Boualem Khoukhi opened the scoring after receiving a pass from Akram Afif and launched into a quick counter-attack to score a low shot that knocked out Khaled Issa in the 22nd minute.

After a quarter of an hour, Al-Moez Ali doubled the lead with a superb outside shot to strengthen his lead among the top scorers with eight goals.

Despite attempts by Ali Mabkhout and Ahmed Khalil, the United Arab Emirates did not narrow the gap in the second half, while Hassan Al-Heidos added the third goal after lone goalkeeper Issa and He shot his head beautifully ten minutes before the end.

After the goal, Emirati supporters threw projectiles, which appeared to be empty shoes and bottled water for Qatar players.

Ismail Ismail was expelled in the 91st minute as a result of the referee's decision to use video technology, which proved that the UAE player was hitting the opponent without a ball.

Qatar took advantage of the numerical shortage in the ranks of the opponent and Hamed Ismail scored the fourth goal in the 93rd minute. (Agencies)
