Australian researchers suggest that breakfast is perhaps the most important meal of the day, but its consumption will not contribute to weight loss.
A review of previous scientific studies indicates that breakfasts consume more than 260 calories a day, giving them an extra 453.6 grams (one pound) of weight compared to those who do not eat breakfast.
But other experts say that eating a healthy breakfast is a good source of calcium and fiber.
The breakfast also improves the concentration and attention levels in children in particular, gives energy to the body, prevents the person from eating snacks later in the day and provides the body with nutrients essential.
Breakfast Proven Several studies have used proposed preview groups for comparative testing and found a relationship between breakfast and healthy weight gain.
However, an Australian study published in the medical journal BMJ examined the results of 13 trials aimed at testing the relationship between breakfast, weight and energy consumption, and highlighted insufficient evidence to support these views.
The research team at the University of Monach, Australia, discovered that not having breakfast can be a good way to reduce the amount of calories saved per day.
The study found that those who eat breakfast consume more calories and those who do not take it do not have more appetite for meals in the afternoons.
However, the study also suggests that adults are advised not to eat breakfast to reduce weight, as this may be counterproductive.
The researchers point out that this study has limitations. The scientific team followed the participants in this trial for short periods ranging from 2 to 16 weeks. The results revealed a slight difference in the caloric intake of breakfast eaters to those who did not eat. In the long run to eat or ignore breakfast.
Increase calcium and fiber
"We should not pay too much attention to the issue of calorie consumption in the morning," says Dr. Kevin Allen, dietician and head of nutrition science at Kings College London.
Breakfast does not indicate that breakfast is harmful to your health, it is important to provide nutrients such as cereals and milk, which are useful for increasing calcium and fiber.
"We are not talking about breakfast as a cause of obesity," he said.
