The Moroccan Ministry of Health announced Sunday that the number of deaths due to the "swine flu" virus in the country has risen to 11 people.

"The number of deaths from the H1N1 virus has increased to 11," the ministry said in a statement.

"Out of a total of 58 cases, 15 are cured, while 32 continue to receive treatment," she said.

"While 11 deaths were recorded as a result of complications associated with at least one vulnerability factor, related to pregnancy, chronic disease, in people 65 years and older or under 5 years."

"The dead are spread in 6 cities, 4 in Casablanca, 3 in Tangier and one in Rabat, Fez, Tanant and Azilal," the ministry said.

She pointed out that "drugs are available in public hospitals, as well as pharmaceutical companies to provide private clinics".

"The current epidemiological situation remains normal compared to previous seasons (without figures), and corresponds to the global epidemiological situation according to the World Health Organization," the ministry said.
