Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho agreed to accept a one – year prison sentence for tax evasion, but the Portuguese coach will not be penalized in jail after the replacement of the provisional detention by a fine, announced Tuesday a Spanish court.
Spanish prosecutors said that Mourinho, aged 56, had not disclosed his income from the sale of property rights to his tax return in 2011 and 2012, while he was training Real Madrid for the purposes of corruption.
The court added that Mourinho had been fined 1.9 million euros, of which 60% accounted for the amount of tax evasion, as well as 12,174 euros of accrued interest.
The Portuguese coach or his representative was not immediately available to comment
