The Ministry of Health will launch next Thursday a new national polio vaccination campaign, targeting 2.7 million children under five.
In a statement, SANA received a copy of its readiness for the campaign until 1945: a health center, 2,600 mobile teams, 8601 health workers and 128 volunteers, with more than 2.9 million doses of oral vaccine.
The ministry reaffirmed that the vaccine was safe and that it was among the best in the world and that it did not cause any side effects that could harm the health of the child, "inviting parents take their children to the health center or the nearest mobile team to give them the vaccine for free.
Common symptoms, such as cough, diarrhea, colds, simple fever and the use of certain medications as inflammatory medications do not prevent the child's vaccination, said the ministry.
The World Health Organization announced that by the end of 2018, Syria would again be polio-free based on a field assessment between the absence of virus isolation for longer of one year, which was considered a victory for public health at the regional and global levels and by the Ministry of Health, followed by a national plan to prevent its return. Implement vaccination campaigns and strengthen the routine immunization program.
Syria declared for the first time that it was polio-free in 1995, after several cases of transmission of wild Pakistani virus by armed terrorist groups, in 2013. The Ministry of Health launched a series of campaigns national immunization programs that have reduced the transmission of the virus and has not reported any new cases since the beginning of 2014. But the disease returned in June 2017 after the registration of the mutated virus infections in Deir Ezzor to follow the Ministry of Immunization Campaigns, which has now covered 29 national campaigns.
