LONDON (Reuters) – An international study has linked the sharp rise in bowel cancer with sitting in front of television.
According to experts, sitting in front of the screen an hour a day increases the risk of bowel cancer by up to 70% if its duration reaches two hours.
For the first time, the study of the sitting position is an explanatory factor for the sharp increase in bowel cancer, especially in those under 50 years old.
The results of the study confirm the importance of activity in the prevention of bowel cancer, pointing out that people who spend one hour before television increase the risk of deadly disease from 12% compared to those who spend less time on television.
The study concluded its findings after analyzing television viewing times and other non-activity-related behaviors.
