Scientists at Harvard University have found that the results show that women are more likely than men to suffer from dementia and Parkinson's disease.
The scientists concluded the findings after experiments involving dozens of selected women and men in the same age group, during which they thoroughly examined the structure of their bodies and checked their condition as well as hormonal, genetic and chemical factors that may affect the structure of their brain.
These tests showed that women's brains had higher proportions of "Tao protein" than men's brains, making them more vulnerable to certain neurological disorders, increasing their risk of dementia and memory loss by 6 to 10% and making them more susceptible to Parkinson's disease.
The testers have not found the real reason why this type of protein is more prevalent in women's brains, but they claim that it will lead them to invent new ways to fight dementia.
