The coach of Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone, acknowledged that Real Madrid had the right to take it away.
Real beat Real Madrid 3-1 on Saturday during the 23rd day of the Spanish league, to get rid of the finalist.
"Atletico lost because of his match against a rival who gave a convincing performance," Simeone said after the match.
"I do not usually talk about VAR and I think the governance of the video will improve in the future and be more efficient," he said.
"I do not watch rehearsals as video directors, so I hope all decisions are good," he said.
"In fact, I do not think we lost because of the VAR, our opponent was better than us and they played a very good game, so I congratulate them on their victory and get ready for the next match."
The referee calculated a goal for Atletico Madrid and canceled another after resorting to VAR. VAR has confirmed the validity of the decision to inflict a penalty to Real Madrid.
"We will wait and see what happens tomorrow," he said.
Real went 45 points in second place, five points behind leaders Barcelona, beating Atletico, who lost a point in third place.
