DUBAI (Reuters) – Egyptian star Mohamed Salah denounced the quarrels between what he described as "the biggest audience in the Arab world" and the fans of Al-Ahli and Zamalek in light of the recent tensions in Egypt.
"I can not believe I did everything to make Twitter the largest possible audience in the Arab world," said Salah in a tweet posted on his official Twitter page. "It's the salvation of our life that we have lived through.
The Egyptian star is referring to the hyper-fanaticism that has hit some of the supporters of the Egyptian football giants during the last period, as evidenced by social networking sites.
The possibility of suspending the Egyptian football league was recently reported and a war of words broke out between the club's management and Pyramids owner Turki Al-Sheikh recently broke out.
Salah played for the Arab Contractors Club between 2006 and 2010, before settling in Basel and starting his career abroad.
