A study commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO) found that eating too much fiber, especially in grains, peanuts and legumes, reduces the risk of heart disease and premature death, according to The Guardian .

The authors report that their results are promising, but they do not comply with the fiber-based diet that has recently spread. The team led by Professor Jim Mann, professor at the University of Otago, New Zealand, told the United Arab Emirates "Al Bayan".

Sugar is a bad starch, while fiber is found in "good" starches, such as grain bread and oats. But the violent reaction to sugar has led to the spread of diets that reject starches, including starches that scientists say are saving lives.

According to the Guardian, Professor Mann said, "Research is a major contributor to changing the debate, and we found in this study strong evidence that the high-fiber diet, which most people are rich in in starches, is important in the prevention of a number of diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. "

However, Mann said the research will not end the "food wars" because of the interests of the beneficiaries of the spread of this type of diet. Stakeholders are of two types: the first type of business interests and famous leaders and others, and secondly, some doctors and scientists who promote contrary to what the research says.

The study recommended consuming at least 25 to 29 grams of fiber a day, with most people in the world consuming less than 20 grams a day.

The study also found that the aforementioned ratio reduced the risk of death by 15 to 30% of deaths, including those due to heart disease, compared to people consuming less fiber.

The study also showed a 16 to 24% decrease in coronary heart disease and angina pectoris, type 2 diabetes and colorectal cancer, accounting for 13 deaths and six cases of coronary heart disease for 1000 people who consume more fiber than those who do not eat it.
