Google recently filed a new patent for a phone whose basic parts are assembled by the user.
The idea of the phone is similar to the ARA project, suspended two years ago, during which the American company developed to manufacture a phone combining its different parts according to the needs of the user.
The patent was registered under the name "standard device and its components", which is supposed to be Google's new device, parallel to its current range of "pixel" phones.
The document states that the device consists of three main parts, the main unit including the display and chips, the sensor array and the battery, as well as other electronic components.
The second module includes modules upgraded separately for the main unit, while the third module serves as a framework for the integration of other modules.
The frame contains edges on which the telephone units and their components are installed, while the elements of the second unit may include spare batteries or external storage chips to increase the storage space or modules. 39, additional imagery.
Google seeks through this invention to achieve several goals, the most important: flexibility by giving the user the ability to choose what he wants to add to his device according to his needs, and the dynamics of the device facilitates the replacement of damaged parts for the user and perhaps even the factory.
The presence of this feature can change the course of the phone industry, where the size of the screens can be increased to become a tablet, which explains the existence of a paragraph in the patent document which sets the device as a smart phone with the ability to be updated on a computer or tablet.
The recently disclosed patent may not meet Google's ambitions in a fully installed device such as the ambitious ARI project, but it could certainly be seen as a step in the realization of the desired LEGO phone.
