At the Sanaa Cooperation School, the Yemeni girl receives a measles vaccine as part of a large vaccination campaign organized by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and aimed at 13 million children from 6 months to 15 years old.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that measles cases are almost twice as numerous worldwide, while epidemics are proliferating in many parts of the world … in rich countries as well as in countries poor. The organization has announced preliminary figures covering the period up to mid-January, based on communications received from 183 countries around the world.

Recent figures for measles infections reported in Europe have reached 59,788, compared to 21,905 in the eastern Mediterranean, 19,966 in the Americas and 33,879 on the African continent. The organization expects these numbers to increase due to a new epidemic that appeared late 2018 and delays in the reporting of injuries.

The WHO has called on the UN member states to fill the gaps in immunization coverage, having previously announced that about 110,000 people have died since 2017 because of the infectious disease, which can be easily and easily effectively avoided through vaccination.
