The founder of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei said in an interview with the BBC that "the United States can not crush society".
Ren Zheng said that the arrest of his daughter Meng Wanzo, executive director of Huawei, had a political motive.
The United States has brought criminal charges against the company, including money laundering, bank fraud and obstruction of justice.

"The United States can not crush us," he said, "the world can not leave us because we are more sophisticated."
"Even if they convince more countries to stop dealing with us, we can always lower prices a bit."

"If they convince more countries not to deal with us temporarily, we can always reduce the size of the company," he said.

Last week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned his country's allies against the use of Huawei equipment on their land, stressing that it would complicate Washington's task to "take partners".

Ren Zheng warned that the world "can not leave the products of the company because they are more sophisticated."
