The Arab League will be the guest of honor at the 50th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair 2019, which will begin on Tuesday and will continue until February 5, celebrated by Tharwat Okasha and Suheir Al- Qalmawi.
The Opening Ceremony will be held at the Cairo International Book Fair at the Egyptian International Exhibition Center in Cairo, in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Inas Abdel-Hamid, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh. Social Affairs Sector, Chairman of the League of Arab States Participation Committee, Mr. Haitham Al Haj, Chairman of the Egyptian General Authority for Books, and a number of officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh said that the choice of the Arab League as the guest of honor at this session was intended to highlight the achievements of Arab joint action and the culmination of this Arab edifice, which brings together in its coffers a rich material relating historical characters and events likely to change the course of social and economic history. And draws on the unprecedented success of the Arab League when the Arab world was the guest of honor at the 2004 Frankfurt International Book Fair.
She also stressed the effectiveness of the Arab collective cultural role in the service of joint Arab action.
This event coincides with the 74th anniversary of the founding of the League of Arab States, the first regional organization created in March 1945, the culmination of the Arab nationalist movement and Arab nationalist thought to become the first pan-Arab organization created in Arab history modern and contemporary. And the first institutional framework embodying the dream of Arab unity and the first international organization created during the Second World War, whose creation aimed to respond to the calls and aspirations of the Arab peoples and to the awareness of the importance of unity in achieving the independence of the Arab States and the preservation of their identity.
In this context, the wing of the League of Arab States will include the Arab Joint Action Center, the free reading zone, the corner of the education and knowledge initiatives, the area of the League of Arab States, the Children's Corner, the Arab Fair and the Media Sector.
