NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – A new study in the United States suggests that a diet with large amounts of whole grains may have a new beneficial effect on reducing the risk of liver cancer.
An analysis of data from more than 125,000 men and women over a 24-year period revealed that those who ate more whole grains were 40% less likely to develop liver cancer than those who ate less.
The study group included only 141 cases of liver cancer, so it's necessary to determine why whole grains are protected, researchers said in the journal Gamma Network.
