He pointed out that the total sum invested in the Arab agricultural production area of ​​158 million feddans out of a total of 529 million feddans is arable, stressing that 50% of the cultivated areas are dependent on rainfall and that the majority depends on cultivation. of cereals and the rest of the area, in surface and underground irrigation, Half of the area cultivated in the Arab region achieves a total productivity of 27.5 million tons, 50% of Arab needs and the rest is imported from the region. Saleh pointed out that 19 varieties of wheat resistant to diseases and yellow rust had been adopted and were working to spread them in the Arab region in order to increase the productivity of the wheat crop, to develop the wheat system. He added that the Arab Center for the Study of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ASAD) had completed several projects in Egypt, including the fight against desertification, the rehabilitation of degraded natural resources, the development Natural pastures on the northwestern coast of Egypt, rainwater recovery at Matrouh and the digging of surface wells to store rainwater. He explained that a project had been implemented to stabilize the sand dunes using agricultural drainage waters in the Siwa oasis in cooperation with the Desert Research Center and a project to serve vertical date palm orchards in the New Valley in cooperation with the Agricultural Research Center and a project to produce drought-resistant wheat varieties in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture of Cairo University.

He pointed out that the rain harvesting projects were aimed at improving the living conditions of nomadic communities in the Matruh governorate, with special emphasis on the sustainable management of natural resources and helping to increase the water supply of the communities. Bedouin families and to improve the accessibility of water to agriculture and livestock at the level of Bedouin families. This will increase revenue from jams or farms, in addition to raising awareness of the health of drinking water through awareness campaigns aimed at improving public health conditions in the Bedouin community, especially children.
