Earlier this year, Samsung and Huawei unveiled phones with three cameras and Nokia's owner, HMD, decided to launch a new phone with five rear cameras.
The Nokia 9 Pureview was at the forefront of a range of smartphones launched Sunday by AMD and designed for Android.
The company's CEO, Florian Zaiche, said his company is demonstrating its ability to innovate with the launch of the world's first smartphone with five cameras.
The features of the Nokia 9 Pureview phone allow Nokia to attract hundreds of millions of buyers, most of whom will come from India and China, said Frank Guelleh, an analyst at Forrester Market Research.
The cameras are all 12 megapixels and two are equipped with multicolored sensors and three monochrome cameras.
