The Interior Ministry sent a letter to Tharwat Sweilem, the executive director of the federation, requesting a postponement of the tournament as of Tuesday, February 26.

The Interior Ministry has attributed its request to the troops' willingness to secure the country at the moment.

The letter indicated that the matches would be postponed to a later date, in coordination between the Football Federation and the Ministry of the Interior.

The match between Zamalek and Egypt in the quarter-finals of the Egyptian Cup, scheduled for Wednesday, and that between Al-Ahly and Pyramids in the 16th round, scheduled for Thursday, have been postponed to a date to be determined later.
