Hyundai has been slow to catch up with the burgeoning SUV segment, but is now brilliant and perhaps leading the way.
The South Korean company will unveil a new Crossover at the New York show in April, which will be smaller and cheaper than Hyundai Kona, said the automaker, whose model is being manufactured abroad, including in India for at least three years.
Hyundai has presented a preliminary version of the car under the name "Carlino" at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2017 and is expected to be named Styx Styx in the global markets.
The new car will be based on the same chassis as the Hyundai Grand i10 and its length is less than 157.4 inches, while the length of its sister is 161.3 inches.
"We want a more competitive and competitive cross-market that could pave the way for a niche market for the company," said Sanjube Lee, head of Hyundai's global design center in South Korea.
While the company is seeking to make the most of "inside a small space," the company official said the public should see a distinctive form and explained that unlike Hyundai Kona , the new car will be "very box-shaped and daring".
Stix will likely be equipped with a 1.2-liter (1.5-liter) diesel engine and a 1.5-liter (diesel) automatic transmission, the site announced, adding that a electric version and a parallel Kia model on the same chassis could appear later.
