Citizen – follow up

Apple plans to add and monitor its sleep tracking feature to improve its quality, within its smart watch, by 2020, according to Bloomberg.

Since its launch in 2015, Apple did not have this feature, although it does have the benefits of heart rate monitoring and physical activity tracking for the user.

The company is testing the sleep tracking function with two labs located in secret locations around its headquarters in Cupertino, following its acquisition in May 2017 by Bedt, a sleep accessories manufacturer.

The clock provides sleep tracking via third-party applications, but these apps are very limited due to battery life issues.

The company seems forced to extend the battery life of its smart watch for more than a day if it adds the sleep tracking feature because the clock does not provide more than a day of battery life , while Apple determines the guaranteed operating time of 18 hours only.

The feature is likely to be integrated with the current Bedtime feature of the IOS operating system via the clock application.
