Under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi will host the International Conference on Vitamin D Deficiency and Human Health on March 14 and 15, 2019.

The event is being organized by the BS Health Care Group at the Jumeirah Hotel, Al Ittihad Towers, to discuss the latest scientific research and breakthroughs on vitamin D deficiency and its impact on human health.

The conference brings together 750 doctors and specialists representing about 24 countries, as well as leaders of regional and international associations.

The program includes a series of lectures on diseases and health problems related to vitamin D deficiency. Physicians can follow daily clinical practice and the latest scientific research in prevention, early detection and the main methods of treatment .

Medical evidence has shown that adequate levels of vitamin D prevent bone disorders such as rickets in children, as well as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis in adults.

Vitamin D deficiency is thought to be a widespread public health problem in areas with low sun exposure, but not in sunny countries, where the Gulf is among the most deficient in vitamins.

Despite extensive studies on the relationship between vitamin D and the various health effects, differences remain in the determination of vitamin levels and the possible consequences of its deficiency.

This year's conference focuses on the latest research and clinical practices, as well as the impact of vitamin deficiencies on human health throughout life.

On March 14 and 15, 2019, specialists from the United States, Canada, Europe, the Gulf and the Middle East will meet to discuss topics such as the impact of vitamin D deficiency on autoimmune processes, cancers, cardiovascular diseases and strokes.

Participants also discussed the consequences of the absence of gastrointestinal diseases, intestinal infections, obesity, skin diseases, metabolic syndrome, neurological disorders, complications of pregnancy, women's health, children with osteoarthritis, thyroid and diabetes.

The conference was approved by the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi for 14 hours of continuing medical education.
