NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – A pregnant woman increases the risk of having a child with depression at puberty, according to a recent scientific study.
According to the website of the newspaper "Del Mail", British researchers have shown that the infection of mothers with influenza early in pregnancy reduced the developing brain's ability to cope with stress and that any form of 39 Viral infection during pregnancy affected the development of the child.
The researchers said the flu could worsen the suffering of future generations of mental disorders resulting from an infection during pregnancy.
"The mother's influenza infection results in a permanent change in behavior or the development of a mental illness, such as depression in children," said Dr. Daniela Pollack of the University of Vienna , in Australia.
The researchers advised pregnant women to be vaccinated against influenza during pregnancy, as confirmed in a previous study, this vaccine reduces the mother's infection with influenza and strengthens the child up to 39; at 6 months after birth.
