Google seems to be hoping to enter the foldable smart phone market, at least as a newly discovered patent suggests. After Samsung and Huawei unveiled their collapsible smartphones at the 2019 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, at the end of last month, the rest of the industry will follow suit.
Google's patent reveals a somewhat similar design for the Motorola Razr 2019 foldable phone, which Motorola is expected to unveil later this year. This phone will be foldable on the horizontal axis, but the patent also shows a gap between the two halves due to the currently available folding technology.
However, keep in mind that patents do not always become a real product, so do not hold your breath. The collapsible Google phone may have a completely different design than that described in this patent.
